Ola Gjeilo releases new single from upcoming piano album

Still, the single from Ola Gjeilo’s new album Night is now released. The album of brand-new original works for solo piano is an intimate and meditative collection of peaceful piano music, inspired by the twilight hours of New York City. The full album will be released by Decca Classics/Universal Music Canada on January 24, 2020. You can hear Still on Spotify now here. The album pre-order is here.

Ola is an exclusive Decca Classics recording artist, and the new album follows the highly successful Winter Songs (2017) and Ola Gjeilo (2016), which also feature Tenebrae, VOCES8 and the Choir of Royal Holloway. NIGHT is his first solo piano album to be released on Decca.

Ola Gjeilo “Mass for Peace” premiere at Portsmouth Cathedral

Remembrance Day commemorations

On Sunday 11th November Ola Gjeilo will be in England for the premiere of his brilliant new 20 minute work for choir, strings and piano which will be premiered in Portsmouth Cathedral. The “Mass for Peace” features in a concert commemorating the 100th Anniversary of WW1 Armistice, and will be performed by the Portsmouth Grammar School Chamber Choir, Community Choir, Portsmouth Cathedral Choir, the London Mozart Players , and conducted by Ben Parry. Ola will play the piano part in his own piece.

Ola Gjeilo joins agency roster at Ikon Arts – Edition Peters

Composer and pianist Ola Gjeilo has joined the roster at Ikon Arts – Edition Peters. Ola is one of the most frequently performed composers in the choral world. An accomplished pianist, improvisations over his own published choral pieces have become a trademark of his collaborations. Ola’s albums include the bestselling “Ola Gjeilo” and “Winter Songs” on the Decca Classics label, featuring Tenebrae, VOCES8 and the Choir of Royal Holloway. He also has two piano albums on the 2L label; “Stone Rose” and “Piano Improvisations”. Ola Gjeilo’s “Winter Songs” for Decca Classics

High summer saw Ola Gjeilo in London recording his new album for Decca Classics – “Winter Songs”. Rupert Gough conducted the Royal Holloway Choir, the Twelve Ensemble and Ola on piano in a set of beautiful tracks reflecting the winter season, in which Christmas tracks mix with original compositions.

Following on from Ola’s first Decca Classics album, which included tracks performed by VOCES8, this new album release is sure to be just as popular.

Seasonal pieces for a cosy wintertide

Under the hot summer sun The Choir of Holloway has been recording seasonal winter and Christmas songs this month by the composer and pianist Ola Gjeilo. Destined to be a release from Decca Classics this December, the playlist features Ola’s arrangements of well-known traditional carols as well as some of his original compositions for choir, piano and strings (the superb 12 Ensemble), all conducted by Rupert Gough. The album is the follow-up to Ola’s first Decca album.
