Paul and PurpleVocals in Texas, Minnesota, Philadelphia and Tennessee.
Paul Phoenix is spending the month of January in the USA with 4 very different projects. The month starts in San Antonio, TX, working as a faculty member of the inaugural Alamo Baroque Festival. Paul will be performing music composed around the time San Antonio was founded, including Purcell, Handel and others. He has already given a performance of French baroque music in front of the Alamo (pictured).
Paul has a special affinity with the music of American composer Libby Larsen, with whom he first worked as a member of The King’s Singers. He will sing with the Schubert Club of Minneapolis St Paul in a concert featuring pieces which Libby has written as companion music to comic strip cartoons and other visual media. The program includes “The Fantom of the Fair” which illustrates a story of the superhero in action at the World’s Fair, “The Peculiar Case of Dr. H.H. Holmes” for baritone & prepared piano with projected drawings, and “Love Tamer” with reconstructed comic strip illustrations. See more here.
Paul is a regular visitor to the Philadelphia Boys Choir and he will be working and performing with them in a residency as part of he choir’s 50th anniversary year.
And to end the trip Paul will be visiting Maryville College, TN where he is a regular visitor. You can read more about his work as artist in residence there here.
As always you can follow Paul and Purple Vocals at his website, www.purplevocals.com, and on social media.
