VOCES8 will be at their London home the Gresham Centre this evening to launch their new album EQUINOX, a performance which will be streamed on Facebook Live. The album features Jonathan Dove’s work The Passing of the Year, and the ensemble is joined by Jonathan on piano, the only recording of the work in which he plays piano. EQUINOX revolves around 2 parallel cycles: one following the temporal seasons, and the other charting the yearly religious cycle. Alongside The Passing of the Year is music by Arvo Pärt, Gabriel Fauré, Edward Elgar, Graham Lack (world premiere recording of This Ember Night), Philip Stopford (world premiere recording of Ave Maris Stella) Benjamin Britten, and others.For this and next season Jonathan is the Composer in Residence with VOCES8, a relationship which will see a new commission in 2019 as well as music from Jonathan featured in every performance the group gives over the 2 year period.
