Royal Holloway in Concert with the London Mozart Players

Celebrating the centenary of the Representation of the People Act 1918, the Choir of Royal Holloway join forces with the Royal Holloway Chamber Orchestra and the London Mozart Players at London’s Saint John’s Smith Square concert hall. The programme includes the world premiere of a new commission from composer Joanna Marsh. Entitled ‘Pearl of Freedom’, the new work reflects on the 1913 Derby, where suffragette and Royal Holloway alumna Emily Wilding Davison famously collided with the king’s horse. The choir will return to St John’s Smith Square on 26th March for a recital in the annual Holy Week Festival called ‘Into the night’ – an exotic mix of sacred and secular music features composers from the USA, Lithuania and Latvia, featuring music by Esenvalds, Lauridsen, and Miskinis.
